7.1 Audio & MIDI (Standalone Version Only)

This menu option is only available in the standalone version of Nektarine. The plugin versions receive MIDI and send audio via the hosting DAW.

Audio Driver: Select the audio driver for your audio interface. The standalone version of Nektarine supports stereo out but if your audio interface has multiple outputs, select the desired outputs in the ‘Output Device’ field. Using higher Sample Rate and lower Buffer Size will deliver the best quality and lowest latency however this has to be balanced with a systems ability to handle it. If audio crackling occurs, try increasing the Buffer Size until audio is played correctly.

MIDI Devices: If the standalone Nektarine version does not receive MIDI, make sure the input is ticked for your MIDI input device. Nektarine’s MIDI input is compatible with all MIDI devices but only Nektar devices are compatible with Nektarine hardware integration.

 

7.2 ArubaAura Backup (Standalone Version Only)

The entire current content of Aura can be backed up and restored via the Nektarine stand-alone application. A backup includes:

  • All global settings including pad sensitivity and velocity settings.
  • Current control settings including the 16 saved presets.
  • Current sequencer data including the 16 saved collections.

The process to backup and restore does take about 10-15 minutes each way so make sure you have the time to wait for it to complete.

To backup all Aura data, first make sure Aura is connected to your computer and launch the stand-alone Nektarine application. The backup/restore feature is not available in the plugin versions of Nektarine.

  • In Nektarine, go to Settings and select ‘AURA BACKUP’ from the menu.
  • Click [Backup] to activate the backup process. This is a good time to take a break from your system as Aura should not be in use during the process.

The backup feature only saves one file so if you create another backup at a later stage the presious file will be overwritten. If you need to preserve multiple backup files, contact our support for instructions.

Restore
Restore works the same way as backup.

  • In the Nektarine ‘AURA BACKUP’ menu, click [Restore] to transfer the data to your unit.

7.3 Plugin Settings

Under the Plugin Settings header, untick any plugin format that you do not want to use. This will result in the following:

  • Hide any already scanned plugins in the unticked format. They can be brought back at any time by ticking the format box again.
  • Disable the format for any additional scanning, to save time.

To ensure Nektarine is always up to date, tick the ‘Check for new plugins at bootup’ box. It will do exactly that.

7.4 Adding Plugin Folder to the Scan Process

The most commonly used plugin folders are already configured for scanning by Nektarine. If you are using custom folders or any plugins are missing from the scanning process, you can add folders and start the scanning process manually.

  • Click on the ‘Browse’ button with the VST or VST3 label to open the ‘Select folders to scan…’ window.
  • In the bottom left corner, click on the + icon. An OS browser window appears and you can navigate to the folder that should be added.
  • Make sure the correct folder is selected and then click ‘Select Folder’.

The added folder now appears in the list. Click ‘Scan’ to start the scanning process or ‘Exit’ to close the window without saving the path.

7.5 Changing or Removing a Scan Path

Paths can be changed or removed from the scan list. The process is almost the same so the below steps covers both options.

  • Click on the ‘Browse’ button with the VST or VST3 label to open the ‘Select folders to scan…’ window.
  • Click in the list to select a path.
  • Click the ‘Change…’ button to bring up the OS browser window and navigate to the correct folder path.
  • Make sure the correct folder is selected and then click ‘Select Folder’.

 

  • Click on the ‘Browse’ button with the VST or VST3 label to open the ‘Select folders to scan…’ window.
  • Click in the list to select a path.
  • In the bottom left corner, click on the – icon to remove the path.

Click ‘Scan’ to start the scanning process or ‘Exit’ to close the window without changing or removing the path.

 

7.6 Scanning Individual Plugins Using Drag and Drop

If a plugin doesn’t complete scanning or you want to just scan one or two specific plugins, try using the drag and drop option.

  • In your OS file browser, locate the plugins in the folder they have been installed.
  • Drag the plugin file from the folder and drop it on the Settings/Plugin list in Nektarine.

The scan process will activate immediately.

 

7.7 Removing Scanned Plugins from the list

There are a few options to remove plugins from the scanned plugins list.

  • Select one or more plugins by clicking (Shift+click to select multiple).
  • Right-click and select ‘Remove selected plugin(s) from list’ or press [Delete] on the computer keyboard.
  • To clear the entire list, right-click and select ‘Clear list’.

 

7.8 Identifying Plugins that Failed Scanning

If you can’t find a certain plugin in after scanning, first check if the plugin has failed scanning. In the plugin list, scroll to the bottom of the plugin list and check for any plugins with the description ‘Deactivated – scanning has failed’.

To resolve the issue, try ‘1.2 Scanning Individual Plugins Using Drag and Drop‘. Drag and drop allows more time for the plugin to complete scanning and in some cases it’s all that’s needed to resolve the issue.

Another option is that the folder the plugin is  installed to, is not set up for scanning in Nektarine. To check or correct follow the steps in ‘1.3 Adding Plugin Folder to the Scan Process‘.
